Most of the time, if a player calls on the turn card then he will usually end up calling the river. If a player got a marginal hand, it could be abandoned so as not to cost him even more on the river if he lose.

A lot of players usually make a mistake of continuing to play during the holdem turn not because they have a strong hand but because they are just simply careless. Players keep on calling bets out of curiosity, they just want to see another card or to follow up until the showdown, for the mere reason that they have already gone this far. Most players use these excuses in order to justify this turn strategy, but mind you, this is definitely a destructive one.

The right thing to do in order to win the game is to bet aggressively during the turn especially if you think you’ve got the best hand, call with rather strong hands and don’t let your pride get in the way if you have poor hands, just fold.

It is not advisable to check when you have a strong hand just to fool your opponents. It is also not effective to try and bluff as a turn strategy. You should also avoid raising with weak hands, oftentimes you will not get followed through to the showdown, due to the reason that players consider these moves as dares.
