In a showdown, a player who’s aspiring to win over his opponents must play the best hand combination he can possibly form out of his two pocket or hole cards along with the community cards at the table. To be able to do that, a player may use either both his pocket cards, only one, or just the community cards to form his final five card hand.
A player is considered to be playing by the board if the five community cards make the player’s best hand. In cases like this, this particular player can only hope to split the pot since the other players can also do the same.
The pot will be split equally to those players who shared the best hand combination, if there is any extra chips, it will be awarded to the first player who comes after the button in clockwise order. In comparing player’s hands, it just usual for players to have closely valued hand combinations, however there is no such thing as identically ranked hand.
In this regard, one must be very careful determining who among the players have the best hand combination. If in case the hand involves two pairs or three of a kind which is fewer than five cards, then kickers will be used to settle the ties. Take note that in Texas holdem suit values are no issue the card’s numerical rank is of sole importance.
